In 1988, John—a native son and current resident of Manheim, PA—started playing with “The Out-Of-Towners”, predecessor to the Moonlighters, and has been playing with the band ever since. He has been involved in instrumental music since he began taking clarinet lessons in 1949. During the mid- to late 1950s, John helped organize an 11-piece band, “The Poka Dots”, which played big band music, primarily in the Manheim area. After graduating from Manheim Central High School, he went on to receive an engineering degree from Penn State University and an MBA degree from George Washington University. He retired from Graybill’s Tool & Die, Inc in Manheim, where he worked as the general manager, John also plays with the Lititz Community Band and the Manheim German Band. In 1961 he married his high school sweetheart Carol. They have a son, 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters.
